Arturs Sergejevs is a microbiologist with a background in several areas of microbiology, including sanitary microbiology, microalgal biotechnology, and, most recently, magnetotactic bacteria research. He received his master’s degree from the University of Latvia in 2025, where his research focused on the microcultivation and metabolic engineering of the magnetotactic bacterium Magnetospirillum gryphiswaldense MSR-1.
As a doctoral student, Arturs continues to study MSR-1 metabolism and optimize cultivation strategies. His goal is to develop a new MSR-1 strain that is better suited for large-scale cultivation. This work could facilitate the practical implementation of magnetotactic bacteria.
